Police say a couple ran off with a valuable pet Wednesday in Massapequa.According to police, a man and a woman in their 20s walked into the Pet Company store at Sunrise Mall and asked to see a Yorkshire terrier. Police say the couple was given the dog to hold in a petting room.Police say that is when they believe the woman walked out of the store with the dog in her handbag.Officials are still looking for the couple and are asking anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.Police say the couple could face grand larceny charges since the dog is worth more than $2,000.The Pet Company has refused to comment.
