Unrelated arrests in Northport Village led police to raid an alleged gang member's Central Islip home last week, where they found heroin, fentanyl and cash, authorities say.
Davon McNair, 25, is a known member of the Bloods gang and has been suspected of selling heroin across Suffolk County, according to investigators.
Northport Village police joined their Suffolk County counterparts, sheriff's deputies and the district attorney's office to raid McNair's Wilson Boulevard home.
Police say they caught McNair himself a few blocks away -- carrying crack cocaine.
"He was a heroin dealer," said Bill Ricca, Northport's chief of police. "When they executed the search warrant, they found 33 grams of heroin, 7 grams of fentanyl -- which is much more powerful than heroin."
McNair faces charges of criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He's currently being held on $100,000 bond.
