A NICE bus was the site of two violent incidents Wednesday.
Police say two women, Candice Stevenson, of Roosevelt, and Jennifer Kamara, of Queens, were arrested after they assaulted a NICE bus driver on board the N-40 bus. The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. at the Hempstead terminal. The incident was allegedly sparked after the driver refused to let them ride for free.
The incident was recorded on cellphone video. The female driver was treated and released from an urgent care facility.
Several hours later, someone fired a bullet through the window of the same bus while it was driving on Greenwich Street. No one was hurt by the bullet or broken glass. Police say there were 30 people on board when the shot was fired.
Police say there is no evidence that connects the two incidents.
NICE employees told News 12 that they believe the shooter was retaliating against the driver in the first incident.
A NICE spokesperson says they are cooperating with ongoing police investigations.
