Police have arrested a third person in connection with three armed robberies in Suffolk County.
Marjorie Valladares says she saw surveillance video of her mother being held up inside her family's deli last week on Depot Road in Huntington Station.
"There was customers, so he told everybody not to move," she says.
On Monday night, police say Yamil Torres was arrested and charged in that robbery and two others in the area. Police say the 26-year-old was an accomplice to Carlos Garcia and Angela Reilly, who were arrested on Thanksgiving and charged with the armed robbery of five businesses.
Ana Guevara, the owner of a deli on Jericho Turnpike, told Newsday that she grabbed a machete she keeps hidden near the cash register when a man came in demanding money. When her husband realized the gun wasn't real, he chased the would-be crook out of the store.
Valladares says her mother realized the gun was fake as well, but she was too afraid to do anything. She says the guy took off with the money, although a customer ran out and got the license plate.
News 12 is told that three of the five robbed business are owned by the same family. But police say there's no reason to believe at this point that the family was targeted.
