A drunken mom driving with her 10-month-old crashed and flipped her SUV in Coram, according to authorities.
Police say Ludivia Jimenez, 33, was heading southbound on Route 112 around midnight when she lost control of her SUV, jumped a curb and crashed into a parked pickup truck.
Gleny Gonzalez, the owner of the pickup truck, was asleep at the time of the crash. Gonzalez heard it happen, then ran out of her house and saw Jimenez on her front lawn.
“She was bleeding from her legs and apparently she was drunk,” says Gonzalez.
Jimenez and her infant daughter were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
Under Leandra’s Law, Jimenez is charged with driving while intoxicated with a passenger 15 years old or younger.
This was the third incident in the past two weeks where alleged drunken drivers in Suffolk County were charged under Leandra’s Law. In one incident, another mother accused of drunken driving in North Babylon also flipped her vehicle.
