Milford Police Chief Keith Mello said in a video released Thursday that officers believe that Wednesday's homicide was a targeted attack.

The shooting happened inside a home at 871 East Broadway just before 3 a.m. Police say a man was killed and a woman was hospitalized. The pair have not publicly been identified, but News 12 has learned they both lived in the residence.

"Based on evidence we've gathered in the past 32 hours, we have strong indications this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence. While we are increasing patrols in the neighborhood, these patrols are solely for your support and to reassure residents. Again we have no information to suggest a broader threat to the community," Mello says.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
