Additional charges have been filed against a convicted sex offender with full-blown AIDS after investigators say they?ve learned of more alleged victims.
Robert Musmacker, of Oceanside, is already facing charges for allegedly molesting a teenage boy, and investigators now say he?s had sex with at least nine young men between the ages of 16 and 20. They say many of those Musmacker targeted were students in Brentwood.
Musmacker was first arrested in December for speeding on the Southern State Parkway. Officials say there was a 16-year-old boy in the car with Musmacker, who had his pants open.
?The defendant used each of the victims as a means to meet new unsuspecting targets of his crimes,? Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says.
Prosecutors say all of the alleged sexual encounters took place between the summer of 2007 and the end of 2008 in the Brentwood area and at a Farmingdale newspaper depot where Musmacker used to work.
Musmacker pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held on $1 million bail. He is charged with performing criminal sex acts, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he faces 20 years in prison.
He is due back in court March 26. Police are asking anyone else who might have had direct contact with Musmacker to call them at 631-756-3390.
