Officials say one person was rescued by police in the Long Island Sound off Oyster Bay.

According to police, the Marine Bureau received a call for a medical emergency in the Long Island Sound around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

About a mile north of Lloyd Harbor, they discovered a man on a boat in and out of consciousness, apparently due to severe intoxication.

The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. There is no word on his condition.
