Police: Man killed in Sunrise Highway crash in Massapequa Park; driver faces DUI

A 24-year-old male passenger of the Honda Civic was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police arrested a Freeport man for a fatal crash that caused the Sunrise Highway to shut down for several hours Sunday in Massapequa Park.  
Authorities say a 2003 Honda CR-V that was traveling westbound crossed over to the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2022 Honda Civic between Park Boulevard and Carol Drive.
A 24-year-old male passenger of the Honda Civic was pronounced dead on the scene. The 28-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital for a leg and hip injury.  
Authorities say the passenger of the Honda CR-V was transported to the hospital in critical condition.  
Police arrested the driver of the Honda CR-V, Juan DeLeon Collado. He faces several charges, including DUI and vehicular manslaughter.  
He was treated for injuries and will be arraigned in court when medically able.
