Police: Man fatally shot following struggle with police officer in Manorville

Police say a 911 call reported a suspicious person lying in the back seat of a vehicle near Bauer Avenue just before 11 p.m. Thursday.

A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Thursday night in Manorville.
Police say a 911 call reported a suspicious person lying in the back seat of a vehicle near Bauer Avenue just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
The officer located the vehicle and found Jesse Bonsignore, 44, inside it. Police say the officer engaged and a struggle ensued, which led to the officer firing his gun at Bonsignore.
Police say Bonsignore was pronounced dead at the scene. 
Police say a knife was recovered from Bonsignore.
The Suffolk Homicide Squad plus the state Attorney General's office are now working the case.
Police say Bonsignore's last known address was Commack but that he may have been living out of his car.
