Police say an argument ended with a Hempstead man setting a fire at his ex-girlfriend's house in Roosevelt.
Police say Tyrone Kinard, 27, and a 25-year-old woman got into the argument. Kinard then allegedly set a bag of clothing on fire on her doorstep and stole her debit card.
Kinard's mother told News 12 Long Island that the longtime on-again, off-again couple has had several domestic disputes over the years.
"This has been going on for years and I told him leave her alone, let her go her way and he goes his way," said Kim Kinard.
Court records show Kinard was in court for domestic charges in February. A judge told him to stay away from the victim and issued an order of protection. Police say he violated that order yesterday.
Kinard has been charged with arson and grand larceny. His bail was set at $20,000.
