Police say a woman has been arrested for stabbing
a Great Neck attorney to death in his Queens office after apparently refusing
to take her case.
The deceased lawyer has been identified as Jim Li, of Great Neck.
According to his website, Li was an immigration
lawyer, who also handled civil and criminal cases.
Police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress inside
136-56 39th Ave. in Flushing When officers arrived, they encountered
an unconscious and unresponsive 66-year-old male with stab wounds to his body
and neck inside an office. EMS also responded to the scene and transported the
man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 25-year-old female identified as Xiaoning Zhang, of Queens, was
taken into custody. Zhang has been charged with murder and criminal possession
of a weapon.
The NYPD says Li was on Zhang’s case for two
months and had been considering recusing himself from the case.
The Daily News reports that Zhang had been in Li’s office last
week and caused quite a commotion inside when he refused to take her case,
details of which are not yet known.
