Police say a man beat his 68-year-old father to death with a baseball bat in Islip Terrace Thursday after the two had an argument about cleaning the house.
Police were called to 349 Oceanside St. after receiving a call that someone was injured inside. When officers arrived, they found Ainsley Murray dead in one of the home's bedrooms. Investigators say he was beaten to death by his son, 33-year-old Norman Murray.
Police say it was Norman Murray who called police to report the attack and when cops arrived, he was waiting outside the house. A neighbor, who didn?t want to be identified, says the son may have been involved with drugs and sometimes caused trouble in the neighborhood.
?[Ainsley] always would handle things with a kid glove with his son,? the neighbor tells News 12 Long Island. ?[He] cares about his kids. You cannot ask for a kinder, sweater, gentler man than him and it?s really, really sad that he's gone."
Norman Murray has been charged with second-degree murder and is expected to be arraigned Friday.
