Police have released the identity of a woman who is fighting for her life after being hit by a vehicle in Coram on Christmas Eve.
Police say Laura Masciale, 50, was struck as she walked along Fife Drive near Middle Country Road and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.
Floyd Patterson, 56, of Bellport, was arraigned on Christmas and will undergo a medical and psychiatric evaluation. Patterson, who was honorably discharged from the Air Force, is charged with driving while intoxicated.
He was arrested after the 11:30 p.m. Wednesday crash.
Suffolk County police had asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crimes Unit at 631-852-6555.
