Police ID man killed in crash involving a Medford fire truck

The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. at the Long Island Expressway South Service Road and Route 112.

Police say a Sound Beach man was killed and three firefighters were injured in a crash involving a Medford fire truck.

Police identified the man as 39-year-old Jason Copper.

The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. at the Long Island Expressway South Service Road and Route 112.

News 12 is told the fire truck had its emergency lights and sirens activated.

Police say it was being driven by Wilfredo Garcia. Two other people were inside.

All of the firefighters have nonlife-threatening injuries.

Copper died at the hospital.
