Suffolk County police say human remains were found Monday in Brentwood.
Officers responded to a report of remains found in a sump at Fifth Avenue and Bancroft Road just before 11 a.m., police say.
The remains were determined to be human and transported to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the identity and cause of death.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
