Police: Hit-and-run driver sought after striking teen in Rockville Centre

Detectives say it happened on Sunday after 11 p.m. on North Village Avenue.

Police are searching for a man they say hit a teen with his car in Rockville Centre.
Detectives say it happened on Sunday after 11 p.m. on North Village Avenue.
According to police, a 14-year-old boy was walking southbound on the shoulder when he was struck by a Dodge Durango.
Detectives say witnesses saw the man get out of his vehicle, look at the boy, then get back in the car and leave.
The 14-year-old was sent to the hospital for emergency surgery for internal organ damage and is in serious condition.
The family, who did not want to be identified, says he was due to have another surgery for neck damage.
