Police: Hempstead man backs into patrol car, resists arrest in Baldwin; daughter found in car

Police say Deric Spencer, 27, ignored the officers, reached for his waistband and sped off – backing into a police car.

A Hempstead man is facing a slew of charges after he allegedly injured an officer during a traffic stop with drugs and his daughter in the car.
News 12 has been told officers stopped a car with heavily tinted windows on Tuesday night in Baldwin.
According to police, Deric Spencer, 27, ignored the officers, reached for his waistband and sped off – backing into a police car.
Police say Spencer then got out and tried to run. When officers tried to arrest him, he violently resisted arrest.
Eventually, Spencer was placed in custody. Police say the officer suffered minor injuries.
News 12 has been told Oxycodone pills and marijuana were found inside Spencer’s car along with his 6-year-old daughter.
