A Hempstead man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, running from police and driving an ambulette while drunk, with his baby in the back seat.
Police say they tried to stop Horace Campbell's ambulette Saturday night on Mineola Boulevard. They say he kept driving, swerving in and out of his lane.
Campbell eventually stopped, and police say they found his 18-month-old son in the back of the vehicle.
News 12 is told Campbell's girlfriend was treated for facial swelling. Police say the baby did not suffer any injuries.
Further details surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
