Police say a Deer Park man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for stalking four women — calling and messaging then hundreds of times for years.

Police say Joseph Matthews, 49, would search for women through local businesses and neighborhood pages online.

After getting their contact info, Matthews would allegedly call them over and over again, and sent several sexual messages.

Suffolk police say those four women reached out to them separately, reporting the inappropriate contacts dating back to 2020.

This is the third time Matthews has been arrested on stalking charges.

The 49-year-old was arrested in 2011 for allegedly stalking a Miller Place woman and her family. In 2018, Matthews was also arrested for allegedly stalking two Babylon women.

Matthews is facing four counts of stalking in the second degree, which is a felony.

Police are asking anyone else who thinks they might be a victim in this case to contact them at 631-854-8526.
