The NYPD has arrested the mother of the three children found dead in Coney Island and charged her with three counts of murder.
Police identified the suspect as Erin Merdy. 
The autopsies for the three children found dead in Coney Island have been conducted and the medical examiners have determined that the cause of death was a drowning. Officials have labeled the tragedy as a triple homicide.
The incident occurred Monday around 1 a.m. when a family member called police expressing concern for the safety of the three children.
The NYPD found the mother of the kids walking soaking wet on the beach two miles away from where her children were found unresponsive. Those siblings died at the hospital about an hour after their arrival, shocking the community after they learned the identities of the children. The children were 7 years old, 4 years old, and 3 months old, according to the NYPD.
There will be a vigil held on Thursday, Sept. 15 on W 35th Street in Coney Island.
