Long Island authorities say two bank robbery suspects were caught on the grounds of the Nassau University Medical Center after a wild manhunt Friday.
The search took several hours and resulted in a lockdown at the hospital and nine schools in the East Meadow School District.
No one was injured.
The robbery took place at about 9 a.m. Friday at a Bank of America branch in Bellmore, then the suspects headed toward the East Meadow medical center. Witnesses said they tossed wads of cash out the car window before fleeing on foot.
One suspect was caught hiding under a car in the hospital's underground garage. The other was captured as he tried to walk off the property.Police say anyone who picked up the money that was thrown out of the car must return it or face criminal charges.
