A crash Tuesday on the Long Island Expressway ended with a driver being charged with driving while intoxicated, according to police.
Authorities say it happened around 2:30 p.m. as the vehicle was heading eastbound in Hauppauge.
The car ended up in the trees alongside the expressway.
Police say the driver was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
A passenger inside the car was uninjured.
