Police say a Bronx man is accused of trying to scam an 88-year-old Seaford woman out of thousands of dollars.
They say Edward Rodriguez, 22, called the woman Monday morning and told her that her grandson was under arrest.
Police say Rodriguez told her an attorney would be calling, and say another man claiming to be an attorney called and told the woman she needed to pay $4,500 in bail money.
The victim then contacted police. Police say they told her a location to leave the money.
They say they arrested Rodriguez last night when he went to pick it up.
Anyone else who feels they were scammed should call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
