Police say a Baldwin man is facing charges for falsely claiming to be an NYPD detective.
Nassau police say 55-year-old Frank Zenon went up to officers at the Oceanside 7-Eleven on Merrick Road on Saturday and identified himself as a detective. The officers were investigating an unrelated matter at the time.
Police say they became suspicious, and an investigation revealed that Zenon had an open warrant from New Jersey.
Zenon was arrested at his home. During a search, police say two NYPD detective shields were recovered.
Zenon is being charged with two counts of criminal impersonation and with having an open warrant from out of state.
Police say they want anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of Zenon's to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
