Nassau police say a man and woman were tied up by two people with guns who broke into their Bethpage home early Sunday morning.
They say the two men entered the home on Normandy Drive through a basement window around 2 a.m.
A feeling of fear filled the Bethpage community, after residents heard about the invasion.
“It’s very terrifying to have something like that happen within walking distance of your own home,” said Barry Lemily, of Bethpage.
“We moved here, and everybody seemed nice, but I’m not sure; I’m not sure. This is strange,” said Ezaz Ahmed.
Police say the suspects tied the hands of a man and woman, both 62 years old. Police say the victims were kept in their bedroom by one of the suspects, while the other suspect went through the house.
The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. Police say no one was injured.
“That makes me want to put security down there even more now. We always have a full house, but still, you never know what could happen,” Ahmed said.
Police have not given a description on what was taken from the house. They ask anyone with information about this incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
