Police: 911 calls lead to arrest of machete-wielding man caught breaking into cars

Police say they arrested a machete-wielding 40-year-old man early Saturday following several 911 calls in Levittown.

Police say they arrested a machete-wielding 40-year-old man early Saturday following several 911 calls in Levittown.
They say the man was walking across lawns and trying to open car doors while carrying the weapon.
Nassau Police say they got multiple reports of someone carrying the weapon and breaking into vehicles.
One resident said his truck was broken into on Hickory Lane around 5 a.m., finding that a work clipboard and several other personal items had been taken.
Nassau police say after all of the 911 calls they were able to locate and arrest 40-year-old Vincent Derosa of Bethpage.
Police say Derosa was breaking into vehicles along Hickory Lane, Mallard Road, and Jupiter Lane in Levittown before he was taken into custody at 7:40 a.m.
Police say Derosa was charged with Grand Larceny and Petit Larceny.
He was released without bond.
