Police say a 74-year-old woman drove her car into an office building in Smithtown, injuring her and three other people.
Authorities say the woman crashed into Branch Pediatrics at 300 Middle Country Road in the Village of the Branch section of Smithtown at 4:23 p.m. The driver, a doctor, a mother and her 9-year-old son were injured.
They were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Suffolk police identified the driver as Lyudmila Lerner, of Kings Park. They say no criminal charges will be filed against her.
Pediatrician Dr. Richard Ancona says there were about 40 to 50 people in the office at the time of the crash. Officials say Dr. Maria Mineo was pinned beneath the car. Dr. Ancona says it appeared that she suffered a broken arm. She is one of five pediatricians who work inside the building.
Officials say there were no serious injuries in the crash.
No details have been released regarding how the driver careened into the building.
