A 73-year-old woman was struck by a car and critically injured while trying to cross a road Saturday in Port Washington, according to police.

Authorities say it happened around 10:15 a.m. as the driver made a left turn from Plandrome Road on to Murray Avenue.

The driver remained at the scene of the accident.
