Nassau police say a 58-year-old man was fatally struck by a car Friday night in Uniondale.
Detectives say the pedestrian was struck by an "unknown vehicle" that was traveling southbound on Uniondale Avenue. It happened around 9:45 p.m.
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
Neighbors who live on Uniondale Avenue told News 12 that they have seen car crashes on the roadway before, but no pedestrian incidents.
"This road is very busy,” says Andrea Scott. “For me to enter my house or leave my house, it's always a problem."
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
