Police are
offering a reward to find the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a
13-year-old in Coram.
As News 12
has reported, Tyler Phillips and his sister were hit over a week ago as they
walked along Granny Road. Tyler died over the weekend.
Tyler’s family says the car that
hit the kids had no headlights on and that he pushed his sister out of the way
and endured the brunt of the crash.
The teen was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in
critical condition and had been on life support for several days before he
died.
Tyler’s sister suffered minor
injuries to her arm.
Police are now offering up to a $5,000 cash reward leading to
the arrest of the driver involved.
Suffolk
detectives believe the vehicle that hit the siblings was a light grey 2005-2009
Chevrolet Equinox.
Police say the vehicle's front passenger headlight is
missing, and there is damage to the front passenger bumper.
The side
view front passenger mirror is broken.
