Three teens from Queens were arrested Friday for allegedly stealing packages from several homes in Nassau County.
Police say the three suspects were riding their bikes around Elmont and Franklin Square, waiting for a UPS truck to make its deliveries. The suspects then allegedly stole the packages from the homes before residents returned.
The accused teens are John Lee, 16, Akil John, 16 and Vladimir Felix, 17, all of Queens Village. Each suspect has been charged with seven counts of petit larceny.
Authorities say the three suspects took packages from homes on Lucille Avenue in Elmont and Theodora, Russell and Carukin streets, as well as Scherer Boulevard in Franklin Square. Neighbors in the area say the robberies do not surprise them because they've had some of their own packages stolen within the last year. Police have not connected the three suspects to any other thefts in the area.
The teens were arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead and released without bail.
