Nassau County police say three eastbound lanes on the Long Island Expressway were closed for hours Monday at Exit 44 due to an overturned tractor-trailer.

Police confirm that the call came in around 1:50 p.m. about an 18-wheeler overturned by the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway.

The HOV lane remained open throughout the incident.

Those in the area report that traffic was backed up for miles.
