Police: 3 children approached by strangers in 2 separate incidents in Wantagh

Police urge parents in Wantagh to be on alert following two separate incidents where children were approached by strangers.
The most recent incident happened on Beltagh Avenue near Holiday Park Drive on Saturday around 3:15 p.m. Police say a woman described as Asian honked, rolled down her window and called out to two 12-year-old girls. The girls got frightened, hid and told a parent, who in turn notified police.
Detectives are also investigating a previous incident that happened on Sunday, Oct. 8 at around 3:35 p.m.
They say a woman approached a 7-year-old boy who on his front lawn on Whitehall Lane. They say she tried to get the child to come with her by promising him candy, but instead, the boy ran inside to tell his mother. A Buick Enclave that was parked on Jerusalem Avenue in the vicinity of Whitehall with male driver was observed during this incident. Police say the vehicle fled westbound on Jerusalem Avenue.
The woman in this incident is described as white with brown hair, heavy build and between 40 to 45 years old. The man is described as white and in his mid-40s.
