Police say a girl in Elmont was sexually assaulted in her bedroom early Sunday morning.

They say 24-year-old Alex Rivera got into the Elmont apartment around 4:30 a.m. and touched the girl inappropriately.

News 12 Long Island is told that the girl fought back, managed to escape and told her parents.

The little girl's father tells New 12 that he's known Rivera for about three years. He says Rivera was a guest at a birthday party he was hosting that went into the early-morning hours.

"He like disappeared and I asked, 'Alex, where's Alex?' for like 20 minutes," says the father. "I come back inside the house and my daughter is crying and told my wife."

The girl's father went on to say that Rivera ran off after saying he did it because he was "too drunk."

Rivera turned himself in Tuesday morning.
