Hempstead police officers say a man was fatally shot overnight in Hempstead.

According to detectives, Hempstead police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of Olsen Place at around 12:19 a.m.

When authorities arrived, they found a 23-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. As a result of his wounds, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
