A 13-year-old student was arrested for posting social media threats against an East Hampton school, police say.
The threat was against the Springs School, the only school in the small hamlet, which has around 700 students from pre-K through eighth grade.
The school superintendent says she worked closely with the East Hampton Police Department when they learned of the threat.
Officials say the threat involved a doctored photo of another student who was not involved in the incident.
Students tell News 12 the threat was seen on Snapchat.
The teen has been charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a felony.
The superintendent says the school was not in any immediate danger. Investigators say they have found no credible information indicating other threats to local schools, teachers or students at this time.
This is the third threat against a Long Island school this week.
Police also investigated threats against schools in Long Beach and Valley Stream.
Those threats were also deemed unfounded, but prompted bag checks and lockouts.
