Police say one person has died following an accident on the Long Island Expressway in North Hills this morning.
According to police, a 1996 dump truck was traveling eastbound in
the right lane of the Long Island Expressway at Exit 36 when it was
struck from behind by tractor-trailer. The impact caused the dump truck to overturn.
The dump truck was being operated by a 59-year-old male who was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The truck was being operated by a 43-year-old male who remained at scene and was not injured. No criminality is suspected.
All lanes on the eastbound LIE at Exit 36 have reopened.
