A fatal one-car crash in Chappaqua closed a portion of the Saw Mill River Parkway Sunday morning, Westchester County police say.

The crash, south of NY-120, happened around 8:45 a.m. Video from the scene showed police detouring drivers at Exit 32.

Westchester County police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The department says a passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

A spokesperson from the Chappaqua Fire Department confirmed that a guardrail went through the vehicle.

The southbound lanes of the parkway were closed for several hours during the investigation into the accident.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to family members, according to Westchester County police.

It was not clear as of Sunday afternoon the circumstances that led to the crash.
