The rest of the money will supplement federal funds to pay for a permanent solution by the Army Corps of Engineers. Residents say it?s about time they got help fighting beach erosion. A member of the Point Lookout Civic Association says every year the beach loses as much as 15 feet of sand. Assemblyman Weisenberg told News 12 Long Island if something wasn?t done he?d be lifeguarding on Sunrise Highway.
