Peter's Bar Clam Eating Contest made a comeback this weekend after last year's event was canceled due to the pandemic.
Firehouses and participants came from all over the island to compete for a good cause.
"We do this to give back to the community 'cause when we were down after Sandy, the community came forward and firehouses and all the first responders helped us get back on our feet, and we always want to give back to them as much as we can," said Peter's Clam Bar owner Butch Yamali
Thomas DiBlasi from the Merrick Fire Department took home first place in the Firefighters Challenge at 164 clams.
The winner among the public contestants ate a total of 216 clams.
All proceeds from the contest are going to the Nassau County Fire Department Pipes and Drums band.
