People who take Adderall say they are having trouble filling their prescriptions following the Food and Drug Administration's announcement of a shortage of the ADHD drug.
“Ever since I haven't been able to get my hands on it frequently, I’ve had trouble sleeping,” Bay Shore’s Giacomo Aris told News 12. “It's affecting my sleep schedule. It's made it harder.”
Aris, who has Adderall since he was 12 years old, says he's trying to get his doctor to fill a prescription, because much of the drug is on back order while things are in limbo.
“Unfortunately, it's hard to really give any guidance because all pharmacies are going through this shortage,” added Medical Pharmacy’s Mark Yu.
Yu noted the best-case scenario is the shortage only lasts another month, but it could go into 2023.
Pharmacies have also seen a spike in demand of drugs such as Adderall as mental health disorders have increased.
