Some of the older students at Old Bethpage Elementary School were tasked with getting the new kindergarteners acclimated to their new school
Wednesday was the first day of classes at the elementary school.
News 12 Long Island's Ken Grimball was at the school, where fourth-graders were acting as mentors to the younger students.
Principal Suzanne Gray says the peer mentors are creating a new culture in the building.
