Canine Companions for Independence visited the News 12 studios to talk about their program.
Alex explains how the non-profit provides highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities free of charge. Alex says it's a two-year process to train a dog. She discusses the volunteer puppy raiser program. Eventually, she says the program will expand to veterans.
Then her friend Zack performs some of the things he's learned in the program.
Check out some photos below from past Paws & Pals segments.
