Police say a 21-year-old man died early Saturday morning when he fell off the trunk of a slow-moving vehicle in Farmingville.
Officials say Rafael Acosta-Lemus was riding on the trunk of a four-door Volkswagen that belonged to his 20-year-old friend. Acosta-Lemus accidentally slipped off the trunk and fell onto the pavement in a parking lot located at 1075 Portion Road, police say.
The Volkswagen was being driven slowly to a different vehicle parked a short distance away in the same lot, police say.
Acosta-Lemus, of Patchogue, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
The Volkswagen was impounded for a safety check. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
