Pastor Kenneth Moales, Jr. celebrated Easter Sunday with the grand opening of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit's new West End location in Bridgeport, marking a resurgence following the parish's 2021 bankruptcy.

Moales announced his "big-buyback" initiative aiming to reacquire the congregation's original properties, including a daycare and soup kitchen, along with the parish's main sanctuary on Union Avenue in the East End.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Mayor Joe Ganim and Rep. Jim Himes attended the ribbon cutting and said they support the effort.

Moales said he's secured financing for the effort, but must still get approval from his bank to buy back the original properties.
