Last weekend, the best golfers in the world played at the historic Bethpage Black course, but this weekend, several courses that had been closed for the tournament are back for public use.
Tomorrow, both the red and blue courses are scheduled to reopen to the public through a combination of walkups and reservations. Both had been closed for nearly a month in anticipation of and throughout the
Ryder Cup.
State parks officials expect Bethpage Black to reopen next Friday for walkups only and with reservations beginning Friday, Oct. 24.
The paved multiuse path for bikes, walkers and runners that goes throughout the park reopened on Wednesday. State officials hope to have half the picnic parking lot and the hiking trails ready to go by the end of next week.
Crews have been working tirelessly since the final putt last Sunday to get the courses and park ready for the public.
Officials have not yet announced a date when the yellow and green courses will reopen.
