A park in East Northport was renamed in honor of a fallen member of the NYPD.
Verleye Park, located on Verleye Avenue, is now named after Charles Oddo.
Officer Oddo was fatally struck by a car back in 1996 while placing flares around an overturned truck on the Gowanus Expressway.
Oddo worked for the NYPD and also volunteered with the Commack Fire Department.
The 33-year-old lived within walking distance from the park and played there as a child.
