Parishioners and officials at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church in Cutchoque are raising funds for repairs needed to restore the church's historic Kilgen pipe organ to its original sound.
The Kilgen pipe organ at Our Lady of Ostrabrama has been played at every weekly Sunday service for over 80 years.
Time, as well as wear and tear, have taken a toll on the historic instrument.
The church says the pipe organ needs to be repaired in order to preserve its sound.
Nearly 800 pipes need cleaning and the leather valves need to be replaced. Without the reconditioning work, the church says the organ will eventually break down altogether.
Officials from Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church say they needs to raise $300,000 to cover the cost of reconditioning the organ.
They hope to have the repairs done in time for the church's 100th anniversary celebration next September.
