The parents of an Old Westbury teen who died in a car crash say they hope no other parent endures the same pain.
Police say 17-year-old Brandon Lustig died Saturday after being severely injured in a collision with a gasoline tanker truck. According to police, the teen lost control of his car and crashed into the truck on Glen Cove Road, a short distance from his home, around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
The Wheatley School senior planned to attend Indiana University next fall.
"It's a tragedy that we should all learn from, even though it is uncontrollable," says Barry Lustig, the victim's father. "This world will not be the same without my son."
Barry and Lisa Lustig are also thanking their son's friends and neighbors for showing support and sharing stories about the teen.
The driver of the truck was not injured and no charges have been filed.
